'Evidence' as a legal topic is logically indispensible to the running of any legal system, and - IMHO - is fundamentally relevant to human social life in general. While it still has 'truth-determination' problems in the sense of logistical inadequacies, and even unscientifically-tested presumptions about human nature, established evidence law is - hands-down - the field where more time, energy, and motivation has been devoted to this task than any other.
