Liability - Foreign Governments - State Immunity Act
Kazemi Estate v. Islamic Republic of Iran (SCC, 2014)
In this interesting and very political Supreme Court of Canada case, the family of a woman killed in Iran in state custody sued for damages for 'torture' and wrongful death. The case is useful reading for it's extended consideration of the present state of Canadian law on civil liability of foreign states, their officials and it's interaction with the federal State Immunity Act.
