. Viterra Canada Inc. v. Grain Workers' Union (International Longshoreman’s Warehousemen’s Union, Local 333)

In Viterra Canada Inc. v. Grain Workers' Union (International Longshoreman’s Warehousemen’s Union, Local 333) (Fed CA, 2026) the Federal Court of Appeal considered seven appeals, all relating to "a dispute between the parties that dates from 2017 when Grain Workers’ Union Local 333 ILWU (the Union) filed two policy grievances alleging violation by Viterra Canada Inc. (Viterra) of the maximum work hours provisions of the Canada Labour Code".

Here the court considers the arbitration enforcement provisions of the Canada Labour Code [s.66(1) 'Filing of orders and decisions in Federal Court']:
(1) Filing and registration of the Award

[22] Subsection 66(1) of the Code permits a person affected by an arbitrator’s order to file a copy of the order in the Federal Court. When filed and registered, the order has the same force and effect as a judgment of the Federal Court: subsection 66(2) of the Code. As such, proceedings may be taken in respect of the Award as if it were a judgment obtained in the Federal Court.
